Hotel Bossuite Kadıköy: Our Experience after 3 Days

We spent three nights as a family at the Hotel Bossuite Kadıköy. If I had to sum it up in one word, it would be this: insane location.

We spent 3 nights as a family at the Bossuite Kadıköy. Our honest experience of the location, the family room, the surroundings, plus pros and cons.

The Bossuite is not a luxury hotel, and our family room was rather small. Still, it suited these three days really well. Here is my honest assessment: what we liked, what I would do differently and what other guests report.

The essentials in 30 seconds
  • Our stay: 3 nights as a family, in a family room
  • The location: right in the pulsating heart of Kadıköy, our biggest plus
  • The room: rather small, but completely fine for three nights
  • Breakfast: none at the hotel during our stay, we had Turkish breakfast outside
  • Facilities: rather basic, not a luxury hotel
  • For a longer family stay we would personally rather choose an apartment

Our Experience at the Bossuite Kadıköy

We spent three nights here as a family, in a family room. For these three days, other things mattered more to us than luxury: the location, Kadıköy itself, restaurants, shops, atmosphere. We were out and about a lot during the day anyway.

And that is exactly where the Bossuite delivered for us. Everything else, from the room to the facilities, was okay and functional. What stuck with us was the location.

The Location – Right in the Pulsating Heart of Kadıköy

I'll say it the way I felt it: insane location. Really in the middle, right in the thick of it.

You step out of the hotel and Kadıköy is there. Door opens – and life begins. You don't first have to walk twenty minutes until something is going on, you're already in the middle of it. Restaurants, cafés, shops, people, food, places to shop: everything right around you.

Kadıköy pulsates, and that is exactly the feeling I loved there: out of the hotel, and life is right there. People, food, shops, Kadıköy.

If you'd like to get to know Kadıköy better: you'll find our personal restaurant tips in Eating in Kadıköy, and for a walk away from the main streets the Tellalzade Sokak is worth it.

Getting There and What's Around: the Bull, Çilek Sokak and More

The hotel is right near the Kadıköy Bull (Boğa Heykeli), the neighbourhood's well-known meeting point. You'll find more about the statue's history in our article on the Kadıköy Bull.

From the ferry at Kadıköy İskelesi you can walk up, about 10 to 15 minutes. Or you take the tram or a bus. The most comfortable option is the nostalgic T3 tram: from the ferry to Altıyol, where the bull stands. It's only a few stops. I built Kadıköy with the ferry in as its own day in my 4 days in Istanbul.

Right nearby, a bazaar runs a few streets downhill: Çilek Sokak (Çilek Sk. No:4), every day as far as I know. Be careful, it's addictive! Right at the start of Çilek Sokak there is always a stand with all kinds of doughnuts, fried pastries and candied apples. All I'll say: candied apples.

If you keep going to the right from the bull, on foot or by bus, you reach Kuşdili Caddesi. A detour is worth it if you want to discover something completely different while strolling: bridal shops, hairdressers and shops for hair extensions and wigs line up here.

Our Family Room – Okay for 3 Nights, but Rather Small

We had a family room, and to my taste it was rather small. I say that without drama: for our three nights it was completely fine. We were out and about a lot in Istanbul anyway, so the size was not a big problem for these three days.

It would be different for a longer stay. As a family we would personally rather take an apartment, because it offers more space and more flexibility. That is not criticism of the hotel, it is a question of what you need for how long.

For a short city trip it worked for us. For a longer family holiday it would not be my first choice.

No Breakfast at the Hotel – Did It Bother Us?

We had no breakfast at the hotel during our stay. Honestly, we didn't miss it either.

All around there are so many options for a really good Turkish breakfast that we simply went out in the morning. The choice was big, it was really good, and I didn't find the prices excessive for this area. My family liked having breakfast outside in Kadıköy, and for me exactly that was part of the Kadıköy experience.

Whether the hotel currently offers breakfast and on what terms, you can check when booking. I can only report on our stay.

Is the Bossuite Kadıköy a Luxury Hotel?

No. And that was not our expectation either.

The facilities are rather functional and basic, sufficient for a city trip. If you explore Istanbul for three days and above all want a fantastic location, other things can matter more than luxury. And in Istanbul it doesn't always have to be luxury.

Three days in the pulsating heart of Kadıköy: for that the Bossuite was really good for us.

What Other Guests Say about the Bossuite Kadıköy

So that this isn't only our view, I looked at the guest reviews on Booking. At the time of our research, 716 reviews were shown there, with these category scores:

  • Location: 9.2 / 10
  • Hotel staff: 8.4 / 10

What Was Less Ideal for Us

What Other Guests Additionally Report

Individual guests mention thin walls, darker rooms and varying bed and pillow comfort. These are observations from guest reviews, not statements from our stay.

Who Would We Recommend the Bossuite To?

It is well suited for:

  • a short Istanbul city trip
  • travellers for whom location matters more than luxury
  • people who want to really experience Kadıköy
  • anyone who likes restaurants, cafés and shops right on the doorstep
  • families for a short stay, if a rather small room is not a problem

It is less suitable for:

  • travellers who expect luxury
  • people looking for a large resort or hotel offering
  • families who want a lot of living space for a longer stay

If you are very sensitive to noise, keep an eye on what individual guests say about thin walls in the current reviews. These are hints from other guests, not our own experience.

Our Verdict after 3 Days

Is the Bossuite one of my absolute favourite hotels in Istanbul? No. You'll find my personal favourites in our big hotel comparison. It is not one of those hotels you would travel to Istanbul for.

But for three days in the middle of Kadıköy I would consider it again. We would choose it for its location, and exactly that worked for us. The family room was rather small, and you shouldn't expect luxury. But as soon as you step outside, you're in the middle of life in Kadıköy. That is what we loved about it.

Door opens – and Istanbul is there.
