Sunway Bosphorus Suites: Living Big near the Bosphorus & Galataport

At Sunway my first thought was: Okay. Now that's really space.

Our experience at the Sunway Bosphorus Suites: huge modern apartment, kitchen, sea view, Galataport on the doorstep – but lots of stairs.

We had a large apartment with several huge rooms, modern furnishings, good beds and a proper kitchen.

Our Apartment: Modern, Big and Practical

We had three large rooms. The beds were really good. The kitchen modern and usable. Overall it was simply an apartment where we immediately said: This is top.

Current hotel data still list apartments or rooms with kitchens/kitchenettes, fridge and microwave.

The View: We Didn't Even Have the Best Apartment

Unfortunately we didn't have the apartment at the very top. And that's exactly where the view is said to be even more spectacular. Still we could see water and ships.

Galataport: A Huge Plus for Me

Very close by is Galataport Istanbul. Restaurants. Cafés. Shops. Promenade. Istanbul Modern. And of course the huge cruise ships that dock there.

You can also simply stroll there and look.

That View around Fındıklı and Galataport

Towards the water you see the Maiden's Tower – Leander's Tower. To the left, towards the Bosphorus, you have the big bridge in view. On the other side, towards the historic peninsula, the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque appear in the silhouette.

And then you sometimes think: Everyone please stand still for a moment.

Public Transport

Current accommodation data put the nearest public transport connection roughly five minutes' walk away. Istanbul Modern is also given as about eleven minutes' walk.

Now Comes the Big BUT: The Stairs

And please don't overlook this point. There are lots of stairs. Really lots.

If you're good on your feet? Doable. If you have problems with knees, hips, joints? Then I'd really think about it.

Current hotel data also explicitly list the accommodation as not wheelchair accessible.

Stairs + Shopping Bags = Character Building

Istanbul and shopping. We all know how that ends. 😂

You go “just to have a look”. And come back later with what feels like a thousand little bags. Then you stand in front of the steps and think: “Why did I buy all that?” Of course only for about three seconds.

Who Would I Recommend Sunway Bosphorus Suites To?

• want a lot of space
• prefer apartments to classic hotel rooms
• want a modern kitchen
• love Galataport and the Bosphorus
• like to stay centrally
• and have no problem with stairs

Who Rather Not?

• are not good on their feet
• have joint problems
• need barrier-free access
• or really have to avoid stairs
